Mattmark Bike

The bike route begins at the village square of Saas-Almagell. From there, the path leads via the Webstube at the Saaservispe up to the balancing reservoir Zer Meiggeru. Partly on the asphalt road, partly on small paths, the steep valley is ascended, partly through bright, young larch forest. The dam crest is clearly visible during the entire route.

At Eiu Sand, the main ascent begins via the road up to the dam crest. From the Mattmark restaurant, the leisurely part of the route follows: the lake circuit. Besides the view of the lake, the alpine landscape with its unique mountain flora is the highlight of this route. After the lake circuit, the fast descent to Saas-Almagell begins. Upon reaching the dam crest, the path goes straight into the mountain slope. In a zigzag to the plateau, it follows the ascent route back to Saas-Almagell.

The bike route starts at the village square of Saas-Almagell. Between the Monte-Moro-Haus and the Volg, the path leads to the Webstube, where you turn left. At the balancing reservoir "Zer Meigeru" follow the road and the signposts to "Eiju-Sand". The ascent to the dam is on the road (ALTERNATIVE: At the right curve before the bridge, the path goes straight up the slope. Halfway up, you cross the road and the bridge and turn left onto the field path. Across the field in front of the dam, you reach the Mattmark restaurant. From here, it goes first through a pedestrian tunnel and then along the right lakeshore. Attention, the second tunnel is not illuminated. At the end of the reservoir lies the Dischtelalp. The route leads back to the dam on the left lake side via a narrower path. Back at the dam, the descent to Saas-Almagell already begins. Follow the path straight ahead and reach the field in front of the dam via the zigzag path in the rocky terrain. The further descent corresponds to the ascent.
