The descent from Bretaye to Villars offers a panoramic view to the east and the Muverans mountain range, then to the south and the Mont Blanc massif.
On this pleasant hike, you will discover the mythical stone Mountain House, a former military hut, at the Bouquetins train stop.
From here, several variations of the route are possible:
Variant 1: Follow the direction of the Col de Soud, via the ridges, to the Cabane du Scex, which offers a magnificent panoramic view. The advantage of this walk is that it is close to the train line, which gives you the possibility of returning by transport if you feel tired. You can also eat at one of the mountain restaurants at the train stops.
Variant 2: From Les Bouquetins, go down towards Villars. After a few hundred metres, there is a crossroads. If you continue on the left, you will reach the Col de Soud and the continuation of variant 1. If you continue on the right, after the crossroads, you will reach the top of the Résidence domain. This variant also allows you to reach Villars.
This 5.5 km hike is ideal for families with children.
