Description
This path was established in 1996 in honor of the writer Dr. Carl Zuckmayer. It follows a route often taken by Zuckmayer above Saas-Fee.
On five serpentinite stones, quotes from Zuckmayer’s speech on the occasion of his naturalization in Saas-Fee can be read.
From Haus Vogelweide, his former residence in the Wildi area, the path leads toward Bärefallu and further to Mälchbodu. Then you reach Café Alpenblick, which is located in the middle of the larch forest on the sunny mountain Hannig. The descent to Saas-Fee takes place via the zigzag path that begins behind Café Alpenblick. To the north, there is a beautiful view of the village, and you reach Honeggu, which is located above Saas-Fee on the edge of the village. There the path branches off towards Wildi and leads back to the starting point at Haus Vogelweide.
Transport
The Saastal is easily and conveniently accessible by car from all directions, whether from Switzerland or abroad. From the north, you reach us via Bern through the Lötschberg car transport. From the east, you come via the Furka Pass or the Furka car transport. From the south, we are accessible via the Simplon Pass or Simplon car transport, and from the west, you drive via Lausanne along the Rhone Valley to Visp and from there towards Saas-Fee. From Visp, drive south towards Saas-Fee. At the "Killerhof" roundabout near Stalden, take the second exit to Saas-Fee. In Saas-Grund, turn right after the church towards Saas-Fee.
