The approximately seven-hour hike from Leukerbad to Crans Montana begins with the steep ascent to the Varneralp. This is the most strenuous part, because from here it mostly goes downhill. The hiking trail passes alpine farms, which are ideal for stops to refresh yourself. Along the way, hikers can enjoy the magnificent view of the Valais Alps and admire the diverse Alpine flora. A highlight of the full-day route is the Tsittoret Suone. Suonen are historic water channels that were already mentioned in the 15th century. In Tsittoret, they channel the water of the Tièche to irrigate vineyards and meadows in surrounding communities.
