“Above Abländschen, a very remote place, rises a huge rock mass, without trees, without greenery, something of the most terrible and threatening!” This description of the Gastlosen mountain range dates back to 1814. Meanwhile, they no longer live up to their frightening name and have long since become a mecca for climbers and hikers. These limestone teeth are also the landmark of the small mountain village of Abländschen, which politically belongs to the municipality of Saanen. After descending into the valley floor, the route follows the cantonal border up to the Jaun Pass.
