From Aigle to Leysin via Ponty | n°46

Climb to Leysin via the hamlet of Fontanney and the place called "Ponty", crossing vineyards, forests and meadows.

From Aigle station, go up the rue de la Gare following the tracks of the "Aigle-Leysin" train to the main road. At the intersection, when you reach the main road, turn left and cross the bridge over the Grande-Eau. Drive through the picturesque Fontaine district and then, at the end of the cobblestones, start the climb towards the pretty little village of Fontanney. It takes about 45 minutes from the train station to Fontanney, and you can admire the splendid vineyards and the 12th century Château d'Aigle. After Fontanney, continue straight on through forests and rivers on a fairly steep path. Fifty minutes of walking will take you to the hamlet of Ponty, with its typical isolated farms. After an hour, you will have reached Leysin by a forest road. On arrival in Leysin, you can either take the train to Aigle or return down the alternative route.
