The circular path to Furggstalden (=«Furggstalu») leads to the circulation basin at Zermeiggern (=«Zer Meiggeru»), past the Zermeiggern chapel to the path which has been used for hundreds of years by traders between Italy and Switzerland, into the beautiful Furggtälli.
After the Furggbach joins the Saaservispa river, the path ascends on the left side of the valley (looking uphill) to Stutzbode and continues to Stafel. The path offers some views of the Furggbach gorge, which was formerly used for canyoning. After the bridge at Stafel, the path turns west and leads over the Furggu and Chalchofe to Elschgrabe and down to Chapf and Furggstalden. Through the old alleys of the alp downhill, you reach a small forest path that ends behind the church in Saas-Almagell.
Another option for the descent is to use the chairlift from Furggstalden to Saas-Almagell.
Transport
The Saastal valley is easily and conveniently accessible by car from all directions, whether from Switzerland or abroad. From the north, you reach us via Bern through the Lötschberg car transport. From the east, you come via the Furka Pass or the Furka car transport. From the south, we are accessible via the Simplon Pass or Simplon car transport, and from the west you drive via Lausanne along the Rhone Valley to Visp and from there towards Saas-Fee. From Visp you drive south towards Saas-Fee. At the "Killerhof" roundabout to Stalden, take the second exit to Saas-Fee. In Saas-Grund turn left after the church in the direction of Saas-Almagell.
