Description

A hiking route with views of magnificent lakes.

The hike leads from Käserstatt to Gibel. On the summit of Gibel and the slightly lower rocky ledge, the hike is rewarded with a delightful view. From here you can see Brienz and Lungern lakes. Afterwards, it goes down over Balisalp to Lischen, the intermediate station from Käserstatt. Even on this stretch, beautiful views of the surrounding mountains appear repeatedly. The hike can be extended to 4 hours. This leads from Gibel toward Lungern or Brünig.

Transport

There are various car access options. From Geneva, the fastest way is via Bern. From Zurich or Basel, the drive towards Lucerne and Brünig Pass is the quickest. The pass is open in summer and winter.

From the south, access is via Grimsel or Susten Pass into the region. Both passes are only open in summer. Alternatively, the Simplon Pass and then the Lötschberg car shuttle train are options.
