Goppenstein - Faldumalp - Niwen

Challenging but rewarding hike from Goppenstein via Faldumalp to the Niwen lookout peak.

From Goppentein train station you start the mainly steep ascent to Faldumalp. Arrived at the Faldumalp you can visit the beautiful chapel "Maria zum Schnee". In addition, you have a magnificent view of the entire Lötschental from here. The mountain path continues steeply uphill and then over a long ridge to the Niwen at 2,769 m.a.s.l. From here you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Lötschental, the Rhone valley and the 4000-meter peaks of the Valais.
