Description

The gorge circular route near Saas-Fee is ideal for families as well as for culture and nature enthusiasts. Via the chapel path, it goes down to ...
The gorge hike starts on the chapel path, which leads to the chapel "Zur Hohen Stiege." The chapel path is well marked from Saas-Grund to Saas-Fee. The chapel "Zur Hohen Stiege," a high baroque sacred building, was built in 1687. Every year the pilgrimage and chapel festival still take place. From the chapel, it goes into the gorge. This area is somewhat remote and little known, but no less worth seeing. Before you reach the bridge over the gorge, look to the left where you can often observe wild animals grazing. The bridge itself is the entrance to "Gorge Alpine," canyoning without water! The adventure route leads through the rugged gorge between Saas-Fee and Saas-Grund. A short climb leads to the hamlet of Bodme, where you can linger in the restaurant and the small animal park.
