The path to the Mischabel Hut is demanding and only suitable for experienced mountaineers.
The path begins in the Stafelwald, where with some luck you can even observe the Saas marmots. Following the path southwest, crossing the Torrent and Triftbach, the path quickly ascends in a zigzag.
At the height of Schönegga begins the actual ascent to the Mischabel Hut. From here the path is marked white-blue-white. The path continues along a ridge upwards. Over scree slopes you first pass the Lower Distelhorn, then the Upper Distelhorn. The path now leads onto the rock ridge where the following passages are secured with chains and ropes. Over a narrow ridge, several iron steps and a ladder you finally reach the Mischabel Hut.
The newly constructed hut access cannot be described as either a hiking trail or via ferrata due to its level of difficulty.
**Note**
Users of alpine hiking trails must be sure-footed, free from vertigo, in very good physical condition and know how to handle rope and ice axe. They must also master overcoming climbing sections using their hands and be aware of the dangers in the mountains.
