Description

The path up to Spielboden promises not only great views of Saas-Fee and the glacier world but also impressive moments with our tame marmots.
An attraction that must not be missed during any visit to the Saastal is the tame marmots below Spielboden. As soon as the little rodents wake up from their winter sleep, they happily frolic around and do not miss an opportunity to be fed by passing hikers. The path starts at the sports field in Saas-Fee and leads over the beautiful glacier lake, which is hidden behind the Gand moraine, towards Spielboden. From there, you reach the Glacier Grotto restaurant, which is located on the Glacier Alp. In old times, farmers had to drive their cows and goats over the glacier tongues to make full use of this pasture. After the Glacier Alp, you reach the final ascent and arrive at the so-called Spielboden. Here you will find the culinary mountain restaurant Spielboden and the mountain station of the same name, which takes you back to the village. **Tip**: Discover the marmot path at Spielboden.
