From the upper part of the village of Leukerbad, the winter hiking trail leads through a lush coniferous forest up to the snow-covered Melcherbodu.
The winter hike starts behind the Hotel Regina Terme and follows the road to Teretschen and to the Munigraben. The route then ascends further along cattle paths through the forest to Melcherboden – or in Valais dialect „Melcherbodu“. There are feeding racks here for the wildlife, always searching for food in winter. If you are quiet, you may be able to observe deer, chamois, or hares. The return follows the same route.
