Mittelbergweg (Ferden - Wiler)

Contemplative hike along the slope from Ferden to Weissenried.

The hike begins in the village of Ferden at the Barbara Chapel. The chapel of St. Barbara was built in 1675. It dates from the same period as the adjacent houses on the old village square in Ferden. In 1931, the chapel received a tabernacle, which created the obligation to celebrate mass once a week. With the construction of the parish church, the chapel lost its function. In 1976, the Barbara Chapel was renovated and today serves as a mortuary chapel.

We follow the old valley path and hike towards Kippel. At Treibgasse, we turn left and now follow the signpost Tärruweg. We reach Hockenstrasse and follow it. Shortly after Zubenbach, we see the small shrine of St. Brother Klaus. This shrine was created on the occasion of the canonization of St. Brother Klaus in 1947. Impressive is the cross that the youth club has erected. It is 13.5 m high and illuminated at night.

We continue along Hockenstrasse until the next curve. Here we follow the forest path and the signs at Mittelberg towards Wiler. Above the village, we come across the shrine "Undrä Baann", dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Protectively, it spreads its arms over the village. We follow the gently ascending path to the junction to Milibach. On the flat section, we reach the road leading to Lauchernalp. We follow Lauchernalpstrasse to Wiler. Through the village of Wiler we arrive at the cable car station and the bus stop.
