Hike in the area where the two ski greats Pirmin Zurbriggen and Alberto Tomba competed in the giant slalom of Saas-Fee in January 1988.
The path begins at the valley station Plattjen/Spielboden, where you follow the wide path towards the Felskinn cable car until the junction at the Kneipp facility. There turn left and continue towards Plattjen. Soon you reach the Gallenalp with a wonderful view of the meadows of Saas-Fee and the majestic peaks of the Mischabel range. The forest on the right side (uphill) is a wildlife reserve and is home to many species of wildlife that often show themselves if you are quiet and calm. A little further up stands the Berghaus Plattjen (no longer in operation), the oldest mountain hut in the Saastal. From the mountain station it is only a short path to the Plattjen viewpoint.
As the mountain railway is closed in summer, you can return along the same path or from Berghaus Plattjen via the military road to the valley.
