This walk along the under side of Pic Chaussy provides a beautiful view of the Ormonts valley. The descent to La Comballaz traverses the undergrowth and brings an added freshness to the trail. An altogether pleasant promenade that is anything but dull…
From the outset, on the corner of the Tourist Office building in the centre of Les Mosses, take the little trail which climbs through the fields. When you reach the first junction (road), take a right, go under the bridge and continue until the next junction. Leave the village by taking the road to your right and which follows the side of Pic Chaussy. From here you can enjoy the view overlooking the village and the church with its wood slatted roof.
After some 20 minutes, this road goes through the forest. Carry on along this road until you reach a junction in the area known as « Mimont » at 1630m. At this point, take the left hand path, direction « Oudiou ». This is a fairly steep trail but once at the summit you can admire the spectacular panorama : a view over the Ormonts valley, the plains and countless mountain peaks such as the Dents du Midi and even, in very clear weather, the Mont-Blanc.
Next you need to retrace your steps back to the « Mimont » junction. Make your way in the direction of La Comballaz by taking the 2nd track on your left. After 2 minutes, take the left at the junction. Follow this path until the next crossroads. At this point, take the rocky path on your right. As you make your way downhill, make sure you take the time to enjoy the views of La Comballaz and the Mont-d’Or. At the next crossroads, take a right on the grassy trail and continue your descent until you rejoin the tarmac road. Then take a right until you come to the bridge which crosses the river.
Continue by taking the road which goes off to the right just after the bridge. This road will bring you back to Les Mosses. Keep going along this way without taking the main road. After 10 minutes, the road comes to an end. Make your way through the fields by following the marked walking path, go beyond the bridge and allow another 5 minutes before you finish your walk and get back to the centre of Les Mosses.
