On the hike to the Schwarzberg Glacier, you will find a typical, barren glacier valley full of moraines, which is interspersed with various alpine ...
The ascent to the Schwarzberg Glacier begins at the Mattmark dam and leads along the right lakeshore (uphill) to the height of the Schwarzbergalp. There you take the turnoff to the right and follow the road to shortly after the bend at the Schwarzberg stream. From there, the path leads left (uphill) parallel to the Schwarzberg ridge to Altstafel and Chäste up to the Schwarzberg Glacier. From the point at 2,693 m above sea level (at the large stone) the path is easy to find. From this point, the path mainly runs along the ridge of the right lateral moraine and is hard to find. The glacier tongue is partly covered with debris and not recognizable as a glacier, which calls for caution. In this valley, you can be enchanted by the silence of the high mountain world and absorb the landscape shaped by millennia.
