Pra Cornet

The Pra-Cornet plateau, well known for its snowshoe and cross-country trails in winter also has a lot to offer in the summer. This circuit between Les Mosses and La Lécherette is a perfect example. A route which is made all the more pleasant because of its gentle climb.

At the departure point, located on the corner of the Tourist Office building in the centre of Les Mosses, take the trail which climbs through the fields. When you come to the first junction (road), take a left and follow the road until you get to the cattle grate. Carry straight on (direction Pra-Cornet) and after the bridge, take a right. Follow the road without deviating from it up until the Pra-Cornet plateau. Before you get to the crossroads (1646m), take a moment to stop and admire the scenery. There is a stunning view overlooking the Chaussy mountains, the Col des Mosses, the Lower Lioson plateau and even the Gummfluh. The Pra-Cornet teepee campsite makes for a novel overnight stay. The Charmilles café, located just a short walk from the road (opposite the teepees) offers the perfect refreshment stop. To get back onto the trail at 1646m, go left in the direction of La Lécherette. Having passed in front of a chalet, the road starts to climb again. Beyond the cattle grate, leave the road and take a left through the pastures. The trail makes its way down all the way back to the village of La Lécherette. It crosses the ski pistes and then makes its way through the forest. Once you come to a narrow tarmac road, follow it until you get back to the main road. Cross over and then continue on the road opposite which goes off slightly to the right. At the first junction, avoid the route which takes you to the military base. Instead, follow the road on the left and then immediately go left again after the bridge in the meadow. Follow the « Anteinettes » trail through the pastures until you come to a wide path on the edge of the forest. Go along this path. When you come out of the forest, the track will climb to the right and rejoin the Arsat stone road. Continue along here until you come to the skilift and then cross over. This new track will take you through wet pastures for about quarter of an hour. Once back on the tarmac road, follow this until you come to the main road. From here, take a right and walk for another 10 minutes to get back to the centre of Les Mosses.
