Tour de Châtillon

From the top of the Jorasse chairlift, an easygoing pasture track skirts alpine meadows and scree. The slope becomes slightly steeper through the wooded pastures and offers a magnificent view. Haut-de-Cry, Grand and Petit Muveran, Pointe d'Aufalle and Dent Favre, all form an extraordinary rocky cirque. Below, you can spot the resort of Ovronnaz. The trail then leads to the Pré de Bougnonne, a vast grassy plateau nestled between the Six Noir and the Six Armaille. Heading left, the trail reaches the Col de la Forcle, a narrow passage set between the Six Armaille and Châtillon. One looks down into the vast Euloi basin that stretches towards the Fenestral. A veritable giant's foot, the Tita Seri keeps an eye on you as you advance. Like a mighty monarch in this kingdom of the ibex, the Great Chavalard towers over this immense valley. A lovely path leads to the chalets of Petit Pré, the alpine grazing area a level above that of Bougnonne. A breathtaking, balcony-like path looks out over Ovronnaz and winds its way through the larch trees before returning to the start of your walk.
