Tour de la cabane Rambert
Description
From Jorasse, a pleasant path along the hillside leads hikers to La Pierre à la Vatserou. The hike then gets tougher. From one tight bend to another, the trail rises to Plan Coppel, a peaceful plateau that lies in the bed of Ovronnaz's river, the Salentse.
The ascent continues and leads into the Cirque of Plan Salentse, the last plateau that is flanked by the Petit and Grand Muveran. It takes a little more courage, and a few more bends along the flank of the final slope, to be rewarded by reaching the pass and the Cabane Rambert. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Valais Alps, from the Matterhorn to the Mont-Blanc, not forgetting the Combins and the Dents-du-Midi. With a little luck, you might even catch a glimpse of an ibex, one of the most remarkable creatures that live at these altitudes!
Returning to the pass, the trail heads East and plunges down to Les Outannes, a great grassy slope with a scattering of scree. The path continues through the mountain pastures of Chamosentse and Loutse. Stop at the snack bar for a refreshing break. The trail then takes you back to the resort at Tourbillon. Take the Petite Corniche to regain the Jorasse chairlift car park.
