Description

The Ökopfad connects the Hannig and Spielboden stations. The trail leads past the cathedral falcons to the glacial lake and ends with a visit to ...
The Eco Trail sets off in a south-westerly direction from the Hannig mountain station. After a short walk, the trail splits from the main path and continues across the Torrenbach to Schönegg. The short but steep descent from Schönegg begins along the path that leads to the Mischabel hut. Halfway down, the trail branches off to the right and continues along Route 10 over the Gand moraine to the glacial lake Gletschersee. This peaceful and beautiful spot invites hikers to linger a while and contemplate the sheer might of this millennia-old glacier. The next section involves a climb to Spielboden, where hundreds of marmots are eagerly waiting to be fed some tasty titbits. Hikers can then descend on the Spielboden gondola lift. This trail can also be hiked in reverse. The Eco Trail features numerous information boards on topics such as nature, energy, vegetation and the glaciers around Saas-Fee and the Saas Valley.
