The path begins in the hamlet of Bord in the Zwischbergental. After the small Fah lake, you cross the stream. Then the path first goes through the forest and then over mountain meadows to Passo d'Andolla (2410 m above sea level). Here a magnificent view opens up of the surrounding mountain peaks and the Zwischbergental. The destination, Rifugio Andolla, is already in sight. Away from the tourist crowds, the evening can be enjoyed at the hut. The next morning, the highlight of the route is on the program: the via ferrata del Lago. From Rifugio Andolla, you ascend westwards and pass the impressive Bivacco Città di Varese. Now it is not far to the entrance of the via ferrata. The via ferrata kit is put on and off you go. Over rocks, ladders, and aids you climb up to Sonnigpass. Here the view opens onto the breathtaking panorama of the Saaser four-thousanders on one side and the Italian landscape on the other. In good visibility, you can see the namesake of this route in the distance: Lago Maggiore. From Sonnigpass, the marking leads through alpine terrain to Almagellerhütte. After a rest, the descent takes place via the hut path to Saas-Almagell.
