A rewarding hike from Wiler through the Obre Forest and along a new trail to the Bietschhorn Hut.
From Wiler, descend to the Lonzabrücke bridge. After the bridge, follow a forest road through the Obre Forest uphill until the Hüttenweg trail branches off. You’ll climb relatively steeply through the forest. You’ll gradually leave the tree line behind and ascend a fairly steep trail across a scree field. Then the traverse to the east begins. After that, the trail climbs steeply again up to the Bietschhorn Hut.
Here, you’ll be rewarded for the strenuous climb with a magnificent view: you can see the Breithorn, Tschingelhorn, Petersgrat, Hockenhorn, Balmhorn, Torrenthorn, and even the western corner of the Mont Blanc region. And, of course, the Bietschhorn is close enough to touch. At the rustic Bietschhorn Hut, you can refuel with food and drink before the descent. Of course, you can also spend the night here.
Transport
