Description

This trail run has a bit of everything: It starts with a long ascent and leads through two lonely valleys and the Swiss-Italian border to the ...

From Saas-Almagell, the path leads towards the Mattmark dam before going left up into the Furggtäli at the Zermeiggern balancing basin. The ascent initially goes in switchbacks through the larch forest before the lonely Furggtal opens and the path steadily rises towards the Antronapass. The easy trail becomes increasingly rocky and technical. At the Antronapass, the Swiss-Italian border is also reached and a spectacular view opens up towards Italy.

The path leads exposed around the Jazzihorn, here it becomes technical and caution is advised. This is followed by a steep and technical downhill into the Ofental and down to the Mattmark reservoir, where greater crowds are to be expected for the first time. Along the turquoise water, the trail continues to the dam wall, where the downhill back to Saas-Almagell begins.

Dorfplatz, Saas-Almagell

From Saas-Almagell, the path leads along the Saaser Vispe to Zer Meiggeru. At the bridge after the balancing basin, the path turns left and goes over the Furggalp and the Furgtälli up to the Antronapass. On the border ridge, it goes behind the Stellihorn and the Jazzihorn to the Jazzilücke. This is the most dangerous part of the path. From the Jazzilücke, the path leads down through the Ofutal to the Mattmark reservoir. The return route follows the hiking trail over the Eyualp and Zer Meiggeru back to the starting point Saas-Almagell.
